One system that runs everything
Your vehicle’s electrical system is really several systems working together: charging, starting, ignition, lighting and the computers that manage the engine and nearly everything else. The battery stores the power, the alternator keeps the battery charged while you drive, and together they supply everything the car needs.
Finding a fault in all of that takes state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment. It also helps to have a ton of experience with how these problems show up. KC Martin has both.
Common signs of an electrical problem
- Trouble starting. A slow crank, a click, or nothing at all. This is the most common sign.
- A battery light on the dash, which usually points to the charging system
- A battery that keeps going dead, even after a jump or a new battery
- Dim or flickering headlights
- Fuses that keep blowing
- Windows, locks, lights or gauges that work some days and not others

Cars have changed. We’ve kept up.
A modern car has more wiring and more computers than anything on the road a generation ago, and a small electrical fault can show up as a problem somewhere else entirely. That’s why we test before we replace parts. Guessing gets expensive fast.
Batteries are a good example. Most last three to five years, and a cold snap finishes off the weak ones. A quick test tells you where yours stands, and we’re glad to do one while your car is in for anything else, including an oil change.
