Diesels are welcome here
Plenty of shops would rather not see a diesel pull in. We’ve worked on them for years, and we do all services on diesel vehicles: maintenance, diagnosis and repair. Most new diesels today are pickups, vans and a few full-size SUVs, but there are still a lot of diesel cars on the road, and we see those too.
What a diesel needs that a gas engine doesn’t
A diesel has no spark plugs to replace, but it has its own list:
- Fuel filters, changed on schedule. Diesel fuel systems don’t tolerate water or dirt.
- More oil, and the right kind. Diesels hold more and are harder on it.
- Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) on modern trucks, kept topped off.
- A particulate filter that needs regular highway driving to burn itself clean. Lots of short trips are hard on it.
- Glow plugs and batteries in good shape for cold starts.
Staying on schedule matters more with a diesel, because the repairs cost more when maintenance gets skipped. Our post on how diesels differ from gas engines covers the trade-offs in more detail.

Truck repair, diesel or gas
Trucks work harder than cars, and the parts that carry the load wear accordingly. We handle:
- Transmissions and clutches, automatic and manual
- Differentials and transfer cases, including fluid service for trucks that tow
- Brakes, which wear faster under a load
- Suspension and steering: ball joints, tie rods, shocks and bushings
- Cooling systems, which matter most when you’re pulling a trailer uphill
- Electrical and charging systems
- Check engine and warning light diagnosis
Fleets and work vehicles
If your truck or van is how you make a living, a day in the shop costs you twice. We offer fleet services and we’ll work with your schedule: book ahead, use the early-bird or night-owl drop box, and we’ll tell you up front how long the job should take. We also report on the whole vehicle at every visit, so you can plan repairs around your work instead of the other way around.
Bring us your diesel or your truck, or call (425) 778-1177 and tell us what you’re driving.
